Case Reports
Case reports introduced here are for the
public to understand what kinds of clinic conditions the
Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture) can help, and how
fast and how good the results are. It is not for a
discussion or sharing our clinic experience with the
acupuncturist for how and why we use such therapies. If the
reader is an acupuncturist and wants to have a
professional skill update, the reader is welcome to visit our
“Advance TCM class” version in this website. It is
impossible and no need
for us to list all of our cases here. If
readers want to know if your own condition can be help by
the TCM or not, you should know that, whatever reason brings
you to your family doctor should also bring you to a TCM
doctor.

Michele B. male, 47 ys. (Wetaskinwin). Left neck pain for two
weeks.
Michele came to us with more problems. He
has hot feeling, hot in the hands and feet but has no sweat or
dry mouth. He has bowel movement once every three to four days.
We gave him acupuncture and herbal therapy (the first visit on
January 22, 2008), by using Sini Tang and herb Rougui. On the
second visit (January 29, 2009), he reported much less neck
pain, reduced hot feeling, and easier bowel movement. The
treatment was continued. On the third visit (Feb. 05, 2008), the
neck pain disappeared. With additional 4 to 5 times of treatment
with herb Jiawei Xiaoyao San, the hot feeling also dramatically
diminished.
Comment:
More western people than Chinese feel hot in
the body and wish to drink ice-cold water. It is not a normal
body condition. This client came for the problem of neck pain
but usually we also solve the hot feeling for him.
Michael B. male, 36 ys. Edmonton. Stiff nose, running nose for
two weeks.
Michael suffered from running nose,
stiffness in nose for two weeks. However, he has such allergic
reaction again and again for many years. Beside this problem, he
has also problem of irritable bowel syndrome. He came to us on
June 13, 2007 for the first visit for the nose trouble. He was
given acupuncture and herbal therapy. The herbs used was Mahuang
Fuzi Xixin Tang. On the second visit (June 16, 2007), his nose
problem has been well under control. During the July, his
condition has been recurred for 2 to 3 times. So later we asked
him to come for a maintenance with the aim to change the body
constitution, not to let the body so sensitive to the
environment stimulation. Now for the later two years, he
followed our recommendation and his condition is under much
control.
Comment: For allergic reaction, the control of the symptoms
is not so difficult for either western medicine or Chinese
medicine. However, it is challenge for both medical system to
really stop the reaction for future life. This can be done with
the Chinese medicine, but no way for western medicine at all. We
normally recommend people come to use for a maintenance
treatment once every month, then once every two months, then
once every three to four months… make sure that the body
condition is improving upon much stable to so called allergen
stimulation.
Linda L. female. 35 ys.
Edmonton. Shoulder pain for many years.
Linda had shoulder pain in both side for
many year. She could not lift her shoulder and felt weakness on
the arms. She came on November 21, 2007 to us. We used
acupuncture and herbs for her. The herb are Mahuagn Xixin Gancao
Tang. On the second visit (Nov. 23, 2007), the shoulder pain has
been largely released.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fern
B. Edmonton. Hip pain, headache, and pain in the knee for many
years.
Fern has pain in the right hip, right head,
and both sides of the knee for many times. On January 8, 2007,

2007), she reported almost all the pain has gone.
Cheryl B. Edmonton. Anxiety, craving for food for many years.
Chery came to use on November 10, 2006. We
gave her an acupuncture treatment. On the second visit at Nov.
17, 2006, overall condition has been much improved. She has much
less anxiety and less craving feeling. The treatment has been
repeated. On the third visit at Nov. 24, 2006, the craving
feeling has reduced to once at night only. After continuous
twice treatments, all symptoms gone.
Comment: Chinese medicine is very effective in the treatment
of anxiety and craving feeling. It woks very quick for craving
for food, followed by for cigarette, then alcohol. We have lots
of such success cases.
Ann
B. Sherwood Park.
Alberta.
Anxiety, hot feeling, poor appetite, frequent urine for many
years.
Ann came to us for the first visit at Oct.
27, 2007. She was given acupuncture treatment and Ganmaidazao
Tang. On the second visit at Oct. 29, all of the
symptoms has been well reduced. The patient was very
happy. Followed by additional three treatments, everything is
ok. No clear problem any more for her.
Arlene B. Edmonton, Alberta. Neck pain for
two days.
Arlene felt sudden pain on her neck for two
days. She came to us at Aug. 13, 2008. We used acupuncture and
some herbal therapy to her. Due to traveling out, she wouldn’t
be able to come for the second visit until Aug. 29. The pain
remains but mostly narrowed to shoulder only. The acupuncture
was followed, and we have also used herb Gegen Tang to her. The
pain completely diminished.
Later on May 27, 2009, she got pain in the
out side of the her left thigh, which was more severe on stand
but released after little walk. Acupuncture was gain used. On
the second visit on the next day, the pain is released. After
additional twice treatments with acupuncture, the pain
completely went away.
Anna
B. Edmonton, Alberta. Bruise on the
calf muscle for three times.
Anna feels pain in her right side calf
muscle for a long times. It has happened before and this is the
third time she felt the same pain. The pain became severe upon
moving and walking. She came at Oct. 01, 2009. After acupuncture
treatment with addition of herbs, the Shaoyao Gancao Tang, she
reported on the second time (Oct. 03) that the pain has been
well reduced. On the third visit at Oct. 10, she reported no any
pain at all.
Ann
D. Edmonton, Alberta. Hot flash,
chronic fatigue, anxiety, diarrhea, frequent urine, pain on palm
for many years.
Ann came to us at June 09, 2009 with above
complain. This is very typical menopause syndrome in women. She
was given acupuncture and herbs. In her case, we used Xiao
Chaihu Tang and Taohong Siwu Tang. On her second visit at July
14, her condition has been largely improved. On the third visit
at Aug. 28, all condition has been solved.

shoulders, dry and red eyes for long time.

use of computer. She came to us at Dec. 16, 2008. Acupuncture
was used for him, in addition to herb Gegeng Tang. On his second
visit at Dec. 22, he reported much improvement on the sour on
shoulders. There is only slight sour on the shoulder bladder
area. The treatment was repeated. On his third visit at Dec.29,
all problem was gone.
Comment: There are more and more people with such computer syndrome.
Acupuncture works very well for such conditions. If the
practitioner knows how to use herbs, the effect is much fast
and pronounced. One of the most effective herbs is Gegen
Tang.
Tu
A. Edmonton, Alberta. Acne for many
years.
Tu has acne for many years with pus spots
on his face. We used mostly herbal therapy for him. It has been
taken five times of treatment within 5 weeks to make the acne
disappear.
Comments: Chinese herbal therapy works very well for acne.
Teenagers don’t need to suffer from such problem for a long
time.
Syed
A. Edmonton, Alberta. Lower back pain
from time to time.
Syed came to us at Nov. 11, 2008. He
suffered from lower back pain from time to time for several days
without apparent release. We used acupuncture and herb Mahuang
Tang for him. On the second visit at Nov. 14, his pain has been
largely reduced.
Comments: Many people suffer from lower back pain without
clear reasons. In our experience, acupuncture plus herbal
therapy at the same time works much faster for the treatment.
Ice patch use should be absolutely forbidden, since it will make
the condition into a chronic status, though the patient may feel
kind of release of the pain at that short time of period. The
herbs used should belong to warm herb that improve the blood
circulation, not the herbs that work for removal of blood
stagnation.
Sharon A. Edmonton, Alberta. Neck pain from
about 15 to 20 years.
Sharon suffered from the neck pain for so long
time. She came to us at Sept. 19, 2008. Again, we used
acupuncture and herb Gegen Tang for the treatment. On her
second visit at Sept. 22, the pain came sometime, no longer
constant. Continued
treatment for five times, the pain is completely resolved.
Sue
A. Edmonton, Alberta. Sour and
bloating feeling in the eyes, reduced vision, irregular emotion,
hard to fall into sleep, cold body.
The first visit for her to us is Dec. 10,
2007. Acupuncture was used as well as some herbs (Fengsui Dan).
After the treatment, she was given Jiawei Xiaoyao Wan and
Longdan Xiegan Tang to continue at home. On the second visit at
Dec. 12, the over conditions had been much improved. Only
problem was poor sleep. After additional 4 times of treatments,
all the condition became stable.
Comments: for such symptoms, western medicine examination
may find nothing wrong so no any treatment can be given. Chinese
medicine is very good to solve such “no solid evidence” illness.
Also, the TCM is very good for the treatment of poor sleep.
May
A. Ft. McPherson. Lower back pain for 11 years.
May has lower back pain and pain on the
left arm for 11 years. She came to us at Aug. 08, 2008.

years.

difficult and the urine is leak. She has also poor sleep. After
the first treatment at Nov. 06, 2007 with acupuncture and herb (Mahuang
Fuzi Gancao Tang, and herb Zishen Wan), the condition was not
improved clearly, as reported on the second visit at Nov. 13.
Acupuncture was repeated again. The herb was changed to Zhenwu
Tang and Xiao Chaihu Tang. On the third visit at January 29,
2008, the ear jumping feeling stop. But reported that she has
pains in the fingers, knees and toes. The urine leakage remains
but it came after previous two urine bladder surgery.
After additional twice treatment for the joint pain, the
pain has been well under control.
Malika A. Westlok, Alberta. More saliva in
mouth, strange taste on tongue for two days.
Malika suffered from the strong tongue
taste with more saliva in mouth for two days. She also felt
headache, cough but no fever or chilly. She felt more chronic
fatigue and poor sleep. She also had bleeding in the stool. On
her first visit to us, we used acupuncture and herbs, Gancao
Ganjiang Tang. On the second visit at Sept. 25, she reported
that all of the symptoms have been well under control. The

in the right knee and occasional cough. The herb was changed to
Zhuye Shigao Tang. After additional twice treatment, the overall
conditions have been well under control.
Loreto A. Edmonton, Alberta. Pain on the left
knee for one month.
Loreto suffered from the pain on his left
knee for one month. We used acupuncture and herbal therapy on
his first visit at April 05, 2008. On the second visit at April

the second visit at January 30 that the pain has been much
reduced. The bowel movement became 5 times a day but no abdomen
pain. The urine also became less frequent. The treatment was
repeated. On the third visit at February 02, her condition was
much more improved. The pain was reduced to nearly no, and the
bowel movement became one to two times a day. With additional
three to four times of treatment, the pain is nearly no more.

the pain in the knees that has had joint replacement surgery
many years ago. She has tried various medications but the
condition remains. Her tongue is thin, young, with very little
tongue covering. The pulse is pretty normal.
She came to us on Oct. 23, 2009. She was
given acupuncture and herb therapy soon. The herb used is Wei
Shu Ning and Zhizi Houpo Huanglian Tang. On the second visit
(Oct. 30, 2009), her condition has been much improved. She has
nearly no any acid reflux. The bowel movement and urine is
normal. She is under maintenance now.

subsided, sleeping improved and the bowel movement becomes once
a day and twice a day occasionally. She is given weight loss
herbs from then.
On the Nov. 03, 2009, the third visit,
nearly no problem with her health condition. Her pants becomes
loss (did not measure the body weight yet). Now she comes into
our weight loss program.
Paul
H. 48 ys male. Edmonton. Tears for many
years. Skin rash and crack for many years, frequent urine at
night.

eyes, especially in the morning. It is so severe that he looks
as crying always with red eyes. He feels hot and more sweat but
the several fingers are very dry and cracks, which has been
diagnosed as psoriasis. The sleep is disturbed by frequent night
urine. His body is very over weighted and he wants to have a
weight loss too.

acupuncture and herbal therapy (we used Wuling San), his overall
conditions are much improved. The tear nearly stops and the skin
psoriasis lesion is much improved. The further improvement can
be seen on the second (Oct. 10) and the third treatment (Oct.
12). On the fourth visit, we can start the weight loss program

much stiff, the headache disappears. Only the lower back pain
remains. Acupuncture and the herbal therapy continued. On the
third visit (Sept. 27,2008), nearly no any symptoms.
Comment: Acupuncture works very well for
the choric sinusitis. We have lots of such cases.
Michael R. 42 ys male.
Edmonton. Early wake-up for long time.
Michael complains early wake-up, which has
been for many years due to day-night job shift. He can sleep
only for one, or three hours per night and feels hard to fall
into sleep again. On the first visit (Oct. 26, 2009), we used
acupuncture and herbs (Zhizi Houpo Huanglian Tang) to him. On
the second visit (Oct. 31), he reported the much improvement of
the sleep. He can sleep for 6 to 7 hours as usual.
Roberta G. Female, 48 ys.

reflex, all stop. She is calm and happy in emotion and wants to
start a weight loss program.
Comments:
TCM is very effective in the treatment of
emotional disorders, such as anxiety, depression, easy to get
upset, phobia feeling, etc. The client has also a menopause
syndrome (hot flash and sweat, depression). The herb used (the
Chaihu jia Longgu Muli tang) is very effective for these
symptoms. Since the herb formula also contained Longgu and Muli,
the herbs that are good at reduce acid production in stomach, so
the whole healing is very effective within three visits.
Dorothy C. Edmonton, Alberta. Hot flash,
sweat, puffy feeling in the hands for many years. She also
wanted to have weight loss.
Dorothy came to us at July 30, 2007. She
was given acupuncture treatment. On the second visit at Aug. 03,

day, all of the symptoms were much released and he drunk only 3
bottle of liquor. On the third visit, he only drunk one bottle
of wine per day. He stop the treatment for worry of financial
situation.
Comments: Traditional Chinese medicine, especially the
herbal therapy, works very well in the release of addition
conditions. It does not only work to release the symptoms, but
also allow the person to stop the addition for a pretty long
time. This is because the fact that the herbs also work on the
emotional level of the body, so to make the person not be so
emotional. Surely to turn such person to a normal one, his
surrounding environment has to be also changed. He needs normal
jog, personal
relationship, love, as well as the spiritual believing system
that encourages his living. Medical treatment is only part of
the means to help the person.
Dercon C. Edmonton, Alberta. Sour in
shoulders for many years.
Dercon has the sour feeling in the shoulder
for many years. After first treatment, his pain was reduced to
60% of the level. On the third visit (6 days later), the pain is
very mild. The pain came back after one year. The acupuncture
treatment again solved his pain within one week.
Comments: Acupuncture works well to release the sour and
pain in the shoulder/neck. However, the person must reduce the
stress to the shoulder by reducing the lifting material, or
typing computer, etc. Otherwise the release of the pain is only
temporally.

very quick.

Alberta. Sour
shoulders for several years.
Zoltan came to us at January 29, 2008,

was given acupuncture and herb Mahuang Fuzi Xixin Tang. On the
second visit at February 05, 2008, the pain and sour in shoulder
were much improved. He then told that he had pain and discomfort
in the joints. Additional three times of treatment released the
pain in the joint dramatically.
Comments: it is quite common that the client tells us his
problem that bothers him mostly at the first visit. Along with
the improvement of the initial problem, they start to declare
more symptoms in the body. This is not good way to work with TCM
doctor. We always remind our clients not trying to induce doctor
to whatever problem the client himself wants to solve, but tell
the body condition for whole body. The doctor should dominate
what to do first and what next. For a long run, this works much
better for the client for a correction diagnosis in TCM, and for
saving money and time.
Trisha B. Sherwood Park,
Alberta. Lower back pain for more than
20 years.

Niuhuang Jiedu Wan. On the second visit at Aug. 23, he smoked
only 10 cigarettes per day. On the third visit at Aug. 30, he
still smoked 10 cigarette per day.
Comments: for quit smoking, we ask our
clients have acupuncture everyday for 4 to 5 days for the best
results. This client, for some reason, would not follow our
requirement. Later he quit from the program due to financial
difficulty.
Wendy C. Edmonton, Alberta.
Chronic fatigue for many years.
Wendy had also hot body but cold hands and
feet, easy sweat, irritable emotion, irregular appetite, easy
diarrhea after eating, irregular circle, poor sleep, gaining
body weight. All suggested menopause syndrome at her age. She
accepted acupuncture and herbal therapy using Chaihu Guizhi
Tang. On her second visit at Aug. 06, 2008, the overall
conditions were much improved. The herbal therapy was changed to
Guizhi jia Longgu Muli Tang. The treatments were repeated for
four times, nearly all the symptoms went away. This patient had
very good reaction to acupuncture, which also contribute to such
excellent results. Usually, if there is pink color on the skin
around the acupuncture needle on the body back acupuncture
point, the healing effect from the acupuncture is very good.
Ronald C. Edmonton, Alberta.
Pain in the left knee and ankle for two and half years.
Ronald came to us at Aug. 03, 2007. We used
acupuncture for him. On his second visit the next day, the pain
was reduced to only a tightness feeling on the knee and ankle.
Such feeling remained on his third visit. With additional three
times of treatment with the use of herb Guishaozhimu Tang (he
has hot and sweat), the pain diminished. The tightness feeling
remained no additional change. This was believed due to surgery
on the knee. He claimed that there has been twenty one (21)
times of surgery on his knee!!
Comments: so many times, we find that if the surgical
therapy wouldn’t solve the physical problem for the patients,
the remaining pain or tightness feeling is difficult for
acupuncture as well. Probably it is because the scar tissue
built in the lesion area, or the meridian pathway has been
changed by the surgical operation.
Robert C. Edmonton, Alberta.
Pain on the right side of neck and leg for many years.
Robert came to us at Nov. 21. Acupuncture
was used, in addition to herb Mahuang Tang and Sanbi Tang. On

Alberta.
Cough and spit phlegm for several days. She also felt hot
inside the chest.
Rhonda came to us at June 14, 2009. We used
acupuncture and herb Qinqi Huatang Wan to her. She came at June
17, the cough is much reduced and the hot feeling in the chest
disappeared.
Comments: Rhonda had typical flu. Chinese herbal therapy
works well in the treatment of flu or common cold. However,
doctor needs to distinguish different types of common cold for
the treatment. This is not as the western medicine that treat
any kind of flu the same way.
Ranjit C. Edmonton, Alberta.
Acute pain in the lower back for one day.
Ranjit came to us at May 12, 2009. She had

Harsh throat for many years.
Pardip had harsh feeling in the throat, as
well as phlegm in the morning and very cold feet. She came to us
at September 24, 2008. Acupuncture and herb Sini San and Banxia
Houpo Tang were used. On her second visit at September 26, the
symptoms in the throat was much improved, the morning phlegm was
reduced but the feet remained cold. The herb Banxia Houpo Tang
was continued. On her third visit at Oct. 07, 2008, the throat
was much clear and the feet turned warm. Later at December 01,
2008, she came for slight pain in the left lower abdomen and
there is problem in the throat and feet. After one treatment for
the pain the abdomen, the pain went away after the treatment as
checked on Dec. 11, 2008.
Comments: in clinic, there are many
people with the harsh throat to clear from time to time.
They may or may not have cough or phlegm. Doctor wouldn’t be
able to find anything wrong in the throat but a hyperemia.
Use of antibiotics would work at all. TCM works very well
for such condition. The most effective herb is the Banxia
Houpo Tang. If the reader is also a practitioner, try it by
yourself.
Najden C. Edmonton, Alberta.
Pain in shoulders, numb in fingers for several months.
Najden came to us for above sufferings at

up later.

Tang. On his second visit at Oct. 13, and the third visit at

had hot flash and sweat about 3 to 4 times a day though the
circle had stop for four years. She came at Aug. 07, 2008 and
was given only herb Gennianle pills. On her second visit at Aug.
14, the hot flash was reduced to once a day. Later visit at
Sept. 11, the hot flash stop. No any other problem.
Jane
C. Edmonton, Alberta. Stiff nose for
many years.
Jane had stiff nose as early as she could
remember. She had also hot feeling, chronic fatigue, depression,
stiff shoulders and jaw, too good appetite and craving to sweet,
night sweat, dry mouth. She came to us at April 21, 2009. We
used acupuncture and herb Gegen Tang and Biyuan Tang to her. On
her second visit at April 24, the overall conditions were much
improved. On her third visit, there is only a discomfort on the
right side of nose and dry month feeling. Two additional
treatments later solved these problems. Then she complained
hot-cold feeling at night that affected her sleep. After use of
Xiao Chaihu Tang pills, this problem was also solved.
Huguette C. Edmonton, Alberta.
Want to quit smoking.
Huquette smoked more than 20 cigarettes per
day. He came to us at Feb. 02, 2009 and received acupuncture
treatment. On his second visit next day, he smoked only 10
cigarettes per day. On additional day, acupuncture reduced his
smoking to 2 cigarettes per day.
Comments: this is a very typical case for
quit smoking with acupuncture. We need acupuncture every day for
4 to 5 days. The number of smoking reduced half and half each
day of the pervious day. For this specific client, he stop the
acupuncture for some family reasons.
Helen C. Mayerthorphe,
Alberta.
Pain in the left lower back for several years.
Helen also felt stiff and bloating in the
fingers. She came to us at April 11, 2007. We used acupuncture
and herbal pills. On the second visit, the lower back pain seems
worse, though the symptom in the fingers diminished
dramatically. On the third visit at April 25, the pain in the
lower back was much reduced. There was no pain in fingers.
Herb
C.
Mayerthorphe,
Alberta.
Frequent urine, night urine, harsh in urine for several
years.
Herb’s problem was diagnosed as prostatic
hypertrophy. He was given acupuncture and herb pills for the
treatment on his first visit at January 4, 2007. On the second
visit at January 14, 2007, his urine problem had been well
reduced. Continued treatment for several times, the urine
problem was under well controlled.
Comments: TCM works well for the prostatic hypertrophy with
the combination of acupuncture and herbs. Symptoms can be
improved within three days usually.
Ebenezer C. Edmonton,
Alberta.
Pain in the right shoulder for several weeks.
Ebenezer came to us at May 13, 2009. We
used acupuncture and herb Mahuang Tang (plus Yiyiren and
Changzhu). On her second visit at Aug. 11, she complained pain
again. The treatment repeated and on her third visit at Aug. 14.
The pain all went away.
Comments: the acupuncture treatment should be repeated once
a day, or at least once every two to three day. Too long time
interval between the next treatment, say, more than one week,
usually do not yield a satisfied healing result. For a long run,
having acupuncture once for a long time period waste money and
time of the clients. We usually recommend our client has
frequent acupuncture in the beginning, then along with the
improvement of the symptoms, starts to prolong the interval
between the acupuncture treatments.
Readers might feel very tired upon read to
the end of the case report. I feel also tired to type out, even
some of the case reports of us. I feel that it is not needed to
show all of the clinic healing effects of us. If the reader
never tried acupuncture, it is better try once so you know what
IS acupuncture and how GOOD it is, rather than to enjoy the
words in the internet. Always remember: come to try acupuncture,
if your western medicine tells you that you may need life-long
drug taking; that you need a surgery; that there no way from the
doctor to help you. Though each acupuncture practitioner IS
different, you still need to try. This should be a life
experience so that you “know” what the acupuncture means when
you chat with your friends in future.
