Trauma

We are easy to be hurt when we have sport, or to do something else. We feel pain on the skin or bone, the skin turns bruise and swelling and we hardly are able to move the arm, wrist or legs. People are educated and experienced to run into the hospital for help. Here we introduce some Chinese tips to solve the trauma by yourself.

If the affected area shows swelling, but no purple color, you can cover the affected area with warm towel. Then massage on the area little bit with light force. If there are both swelling and the skin color has changed into purple, you can use cold towel first to cover the affected area for 20 min to maximum hour to stop bleeding. Twenty min of cold patch is enough to reduce the bleeding. It should not be used for a long time. Otherwise, it will only make the later recovery slower. After the stop of the bleeding, change to warm towel to cover the affected area. Repeat two to three times a day. You can also massage slightly on the affected area little bit to speed up the reduction of swelling.

Beside the use of the Folk therapies above, you can also try to use the acupressure technique.

Principle:

(1). Press acupuncture point with your fingers. Do not use sharp material.

(2). Try not to massage the affected area too long, except if the trauma has been there after one day. After massage, cover the affected area with warm towel or similar material. Far infrared lamp is another choice. Rinse in warm water is another. It is better to add fresh ginger pieces in the water.

(3). Press the mirror points of the affected joint, or the opposite point of the joint. For example, if the affected joint is the inside ankle, its mirror point is the inside ankle of the another foot, and its opposite point is the outside ankle of the same foot. This is one of the tips for us as acupuncturist to choose acupuncture point. Try the miracles.

(4). Before the swelling disappears, do not move the affected joint too much. We do not recommend you to start physical exercise too early. This is opposite from what you may have learned before but we feel it reasonable in our clinic experience. Try to know the difference by yourself.
