If you can fly, do you need plane?

From time to time, we are asked why we do not use electric acupuncture or laser acupuncture for the treatment. Our answer usually is: if you can fly, do you need to take plane?

Acupuncture is a kind of technique in which the practitioner has to pay much attention to the subtle movement of life energy (we call it Qi) in the meridian. Commonly when the patient feels the movement, or transduction of the acupuncture feeling (it can feel as tingling, slight bloating, little numbness, or others) to the diseased spot of the body, the pain can subside dramatically or stop completely. This is the most common experience and the highest level of acupuncture. If you can reach this level, you even do not need to use more than two needles each time or spend hours for the treatment. No reason to tell that with the combination of electric stimulation or the use of laser will the healing effect be improved dramatically. We tried both and agree with this comment.

For the same reason, we do not believe that an acupuncturist can have good healing result if he/she keeps talk with patients about something else not related to the treatment. Acupuncture is a communication between the patient and the practitioner on the fine body energy level.

As a beginner of acupuncture, you have to practice the feeling of energy flow under your needle when you manipulate it. If you are high level of TCM doctor, you should be able to use as less number of acupuncture needle and spend little time for the treatment. If you are a master, you may even only use your finger for the treatment or even only with your mind!

Furthermore, the depth of the meridian under the skin is different from acupuncture spot to spot and also different from season to season. How do you adjust the dept of your electric or laser stimulation from spot to spot?
