The disorders of the Five elements and
the disorders passed from other element:
天地化生五行,其中不无偏盛也。盖五行各秉一脏,各得一气,各主一方,各司一令,各有所生,各有所化,各有所制,各有所害。
When the Universe and the earth develop
the Five elements (Wood, Fire, Soil, Metal, and Water), each
element represent one direction of the whole balance system.
This is because each element represents and associates with
one organ in the body. Each holds one organ Qi, governs one
side of the space, functions one function. Each is born from
another element and each gives birth to another element too.
Each is suppressed by other element and each suppresses
other element too.
For example, the east side gives birth
to Wind and Wood. It governs the spring. It is associated
with the liver in human body. If the liver Qi is depressed,
it will cause a disease. Some disorder belongs to
overwhelming and some belongs to weakness.
The south gives birth to Hot and Fire.
It governs the summer. It is associated with the heart in
the body. If the heart Qi is depressed, there will be a
disease. Again, the disease can be either a overwhelming or
a weakness condition.
The summer gives birth to Wetness and
Soil. It governs the four seasons. It is associated with the
spleen in the body. If the spleen Qi is suppressed or
depressed, there will be a disease. With the same way, the
disease can be either overwhelming or a weak condition.
The west side gives birth to Dryness
and Metal. It governs the autumn. It is associated with the
lung in the body. If the Lung Qi is depressed or suppressed,
there will be disease. The disease can also be either a
overwhelming or a weakness condition.
The north side gives birth to
Col
and Water. It governs the winter. It is associated with the
kidney in the body. If the Kidney Qi is depressed or
suppressed, there will be disease. The disease can also be
either a overwhelming or a weakness condition.
The above is the introduction of the
disease due to each element among the five elements in the
body.
The relationship among the five
elements can be a mother-child relationship, husband-wife
relationship. The Liver (the Wood) is the mother of the
Heart (the Fire). The Heart (the Fire) is the mother of the
Spleen (the Soil). The Spleen (the Soil) is the mother of
the Lung (the Metal). The Lung (the Metal) is the mother of
the Kidney (the Water). The Kidney (the Water) is the mother
of the Liver (the Wood). If the mother has disease, the
disease can pass to the child. For example, if the Lung (the
Metal) has disease, the Lung disease can be passed to the
Child organ, the Kidney (the Water). If the Kidney (the
Water) has disease, the disease can pass into the child
organ, the Liver (the Wood).
There are also a suppressing or a
helping relationships in between. For example, the Spleen
(the soil) and the Liver (the wood) is a wife and husband
relation ship, since the Liver (the husband) suppresses the
Spleen (the soil). If the Liver has a disease, the disease
can pass into the Spleen. This is the husband disease passes
to the wife. On the other side, if the Spleen has disease,
the disease can also pass to the Liver. This is an example
the wife (the Soil) disease passes to the husband (Liver).
A disease can pass to another organ due
to the mother-child relationship. For example, the Lung
disease passes to the Kidney, the Kidney disease passes to
the Liver, the Liver disease passes to the Heart, the Heart
disease can pass to the Spleen, and Spleen disease passes to
the Lung.
A disease can also pass to another
organ due to suppressing relationship. For example, the
Metal (Lung) to Water (Kidney), from Water (Kidney) to the
Wood (Liver), from the Wood (the Liver) to the Fire (the
Heart), from the Fire (the Heart) to the Soil (the Spleen),
from the Soil (the Spleen) to the Metal (the Lung). If the
readers pay attention to understand this, it would not be so
difficult to treat a disease.
